to pick things up you need to click empty space (just above the ground, just like how you walk around, then hold and drag above the item) it works, but yea could be better
picking up items is just awful like unplayably so

How do I collect the stone or the foxeyes? The items drop to the ground but walking over them does nothing.
You need to hold down the left mouse click and drag. Yes, it's not intuitive :)
